Becoming a Mrs.: Part Two

The dress.

I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on: Raw silk. One shoulder strap. Rouching. Off white. Mermaid fit. Simple, elegant, and modern.

Okay, so my hair and make up were done. My mom, Jenn, Will and I were getting ready at my house with a mere hour to go before the ceremony was scheduled to begin.* After getting his tux on, William raced up and down the hallway, rolling a large exercise ball, squealing and simply being an active 5 year old boy.

I was the last to get ready. With a little assistance, I squeezed myself into the dress (it was actually quite comfortable...very light). Alex, the amazing photographer, wanted to take a few pictures of me before she headed off to the library.

And then, it happened. Will stepped on my dress as I was walking into the kitchen. Rrriipppp! A chorus of shrieks filled the air and William asked what happened. Although it seemed like minutes passed as we all stared at each other in fear of looking at the tear, it really was only a few seconds. Then, someone, I can't remember who, tried to find the spot that ripped. Fortunately, it was under a pleat in the fabric, and wasn't noticeable to the naked eye.

Later in the evening, during our first dance, KC stepped on my dress and it successfully tore again, this time noticeably. Our fantastic wedding planners had me safety pinned in no time and no one else knew a thing. Phew.

*stay tuned for Part Three

  1. Your reception space was the most unique and sweet place and surroundings. I loved the table decor and flowers. Modern and vintage married in a very classic and successful way. Just like you and KC.
